In this  symposium, four authors examine the merits and shortcomings of these  evolutionary theories. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thenewatlantis.com\/publications\/swords-into-syllogisms\">Randal R. Hendrickson<\/a>&nbsp;reviews Steven Pinker\u2019s latest book on the decline of violence and questions Pinker\u2019s uncritical faith in reason. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thenewatlantis.com\/publications\/portrait-of-the-artist-as-a-caveman\">Micah Mattix<\/a> looks at recent books that seek to account for art and aesthetics in evolutionary terms. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thenewatlantis.com\/publications\/the-evolutionary-ethics-of-eo-wilson\">Whitley Kaufman<\/a> challenges E.&nbsp;O. Wilson\u2019s attempts to ground ethics in evolutionary biology.
